I was over hanging at the Hood (Orion Hood that is) when I came across his philosophy section. There he has a quote from the 500 b.c. (I assume something that was said on his birthday) from Hericletus that says "Out of every 100 men, ten shouldn't even be there, Eighty are just targets, Nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back."
Now hopefully what I am about to write (with apologies to Hericletus) won't make the dude spin in his grave fast enough to generate enough electricity to power New York.
Lets take this line by line
"Out of every hundred men ten shouldn't be there"
These are the Wolves Those are the Ted Bundys' of the world, the Saddam Hussiens, the Osama Bin-Ladens
"Eighty are just targets"
Those are the normal people, the sheep. The normal Tom, Dick, and Janes. Yes there are criminals in this group. However not to the scale of the aforementioned ten.
"Nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle"
These are the John McCain, Tod Bemer, and Abraham Lincolns of this world. The Amazing people who make our society great.
"Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back."
These are the Sheepdogs, the defenders, the protectors, the loyal people who know no limits in the defense of their friends. These people are only separated from the wolves by a sense of sometimes misguided justice. People fear them because of how closely they resemble wolves.
Now for part two....
All this can also be used to describe romantic relationships
"Out of every hundred men ten shouldn't be there"
These are the child molesters, the rapists, the people who need to be removed from the gene pool.
"Eighty are just targets"
Those are the people who (despite how they treat people) always seem to be in a relationship. People can't get enough of them. Some of them are genuinely good people, some of them are shit. Just how it works out.
"Nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle"
These are the people who have to bust their ass to find someone to be willing to date them. They do everything right and eventually the wander into the perfect relationship and live to be 100 and die learning to tandem skydive.
"Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back."
These are the people who are always there. The people who step in when other people let the ones they supposably love down. The ones that get fucked with to the point where the give up, or become one of the ten that need tpo be removed form the gene pool.
What category do you think you fit in? Which one do you think I fit in? Do you agree? Disagree? Keep in mind that I wrote this and have been sitting on it for about a week trying to decide whether or not to post it. Please send all hate mail to Mr. J. Burhans

I dont know you well enough to make the personal call, but I like the whole 'hate mail to...' line.
Seriously, I think it is a good analogy and good writing. Thanks for putting it out to read instead of sitting on it.
